Year 6

Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

During the school year, the children will be covering a range of units as part of their studies. From mountains to Chinese art, Ancient Baghdad to astronomy; the children will learn about exciting topics to grab their interest.

Our Maths and English lessons cover all of the necessary objectives to best prepare the children for the end of Year 6 SATs and secondary school.

Please take a look at our Year 6 Curriculum Maps for further details about what the children will be doing at school each half term.

We are also busy planning some exciting activities for the children; not least the Year 6 Residential taking place in May 2024, after the SATS tests.  Please also look out for additional information regarding Leaver's Hoodies.  Information will be emailed directly to parents.

With thanks,

Year 6 Staff

Reading

Please ensure you read with your children daily.   Children can record their reading in their Yellow Reading/Home Learning Record Book.  Each time a child reads five times each week, they receive a Raffle Ticket to go into a prize draw at the end of each half term.

SATS Practise

Each week, the children are expected to complete Home Learning from the CGP work books provided by the school.  Work should be completed in the children's Home Learning book and answers will be reviewed with the class teacher every Thursday.
