Year 3
Welcome to Year 3!
During the school year, the children will be covering a range of units as part of their studies. From still life drawing in art to Ancient Egypt, rivers to life cycles; the children will learn about exciting topics to grab their interest.
Our Maths and English lessons cover all of the necessary objectives to best prepare the children for the end of Year 3 and beyond.
Please take a look at our Year 3 Curriculum Overview for further details about what the children will be doing at school each half term.
We are also busy planning some exciting activities for the children including a school trip during the Spring term.

Children are welcome to come into school wearing school PE kit.
Home Learning Area
Weekly Home Learning activities:
At the start of every half term, children will receive a Pick n Mix of activities for them to choose from each week.
Any additional home learning tasks will be stuck into Home Learning books on Friday and all activities should be completed by the following Thursday.
Reading with your child:
We are excited to launch our Pathfinder Reading Challenge to encourage and celebrate a lifelong love of reading among our children.
📖 How It Works:
- Your child will have their year group’s “Reading Challenge” in their Home Learning books or in their Reading Folder.
- Each time your child finishes a book, they can tick it off!
- They’ll record a few thoughts about what they’ve read in their Home Learning books – based on their ‘Pick’n’mix’.
- For every completed book, they’ll receive 1 House Point, plus stickers and certificates for certain milestones.
- Each week, classes will take part in Book Club where they can share recommendations and discuss what they’ve enjoyed.
