Curriculum Overview

At The Pathfinder School, we have developed a knowledge-rich, well sequenced curriculum using guidance from the Primary Knowledge Curriculum and other subject specific guidance.  Knowledge is valued, specified and taught to be remembered.

We follow the programmes of study for individual subjects, as outlined in the National Curriculum in England. We believe in education and learning that is stimulating, liberating and enriching; that helps develop minds that are alive to the diversity of human thought and achievement and are aware of the richness of the natural world.

The curriculum is mapped out deliberately, so that learning in one subject is built upon in others thereby deepening understanding.  In order for children to be more able to relate to learning, we ensure that learning is relevant to the local area and context.

We enhance all aspects of learning through regular trips and outings, first hand experiences, immersive subject days, visits from experts and members of the local community. We strive to promote creativity throughout the curriculum. Our children benefit from weekly music (taught by a specialist), art and modern foreign languages and have the opporutnity to engage in a range of sporting clubs and other activities.

Our curriculum prepares our pupils for life in modern British society by fostering in them attitudes and qualities which enable them to be confident, resilient, creative and respectful citizens.
